Competition Info

Competition Themes - 2011/2012

You can submit up to 3 entries in each media type (‘print’ and ‘digital image’) for each competition. The subject matter and layout is entirely your choice, but here are a few guidelines to keep you on the right track…

NATURAL HISTORY (entries by 3rd October)
Untamed animals and uncultivated plants in their natural habitat. Evidence of man’s manipulation of the environment should be avoided. Entries should be accurately titled.

STILL LIFE (entries by 7th November)
Inanimate subject matter, most typically a small grouping of objects that are either man-made or natural, often in a studio environment. The photographer has full control over the arrangement of design elements within the composition.

RECORD (entries by 7th November)
Depicting an accurate record of the subject as seen, images must convey as much factual information about the subject as possible. All or part of the subject can be shown, but it must not be manipulated or distorted.

SPORT & PHOTOJOURNALISM (entries by 28th November)
Any photograph that can be used as an informative picture in a journal publication to depict a sporting or newsworthy event

CREATIVE (entries by 9th January)
Limited only by your own imagination! Be original and ingenious, draw inspiration from anything around you and feel free to flaunt techniques and effects you’ve experimented with - anything goes!

MONOCHROME (entries by 13th February)
Entirely your choice of subject, style and format - as long as the resulting image is monochrome! (ie. in shades of just one colour)

PRESIDENTS CUP (entries by 5th March)
‘My best photo’! Subject matter and approach of your own choosing - further details will be published nearer the time.
