NEXT MEETING - Monday 24th September 2012 -
New members welcome.

Out of season the whole committee has been working hard to make this coming one a good one. By popular demand in the programme we have included grass roots tutorials, advanced stuff and some excellent speakers, including a surprise celeb speaker to be announced.
Having been a photographer for a long time, starting as a point and shoot photographer and eventually moving up to professional work, I have seen far too often that some members of a club feel almost overwhelmed by technical points and receive very little help from the more experienced around them. On my watch I would like to encourage all to help all. To encourage members at the beginning of each evening not to be afraid of asking that 'silly' question however obvious the answer may seem in the end. The result for the club must be a broader technical knowledge base for all members and hopefully make it more enjoyable at the club for everyone.
As a final point I have suggested putting a book together, either digital or in print and to include every single member in the clubs images. From experience the buzz the first time you see your work in print will only be matched by the second time you achieve it! Every member of the club is more than capable of taking images for this.
I would like to think that establishing the help ethos and completing the book, together with leaving a healthy balance in the bank would be for me the most rewarding part of being a member at Ripon Photographic Club.
Have a good season, Paul
